When my child was accepted to a big university, I went straight to the admissions office to get all my facts in order. When I got there, the receptionist told me that they use a centralized approach and don’t accept students as they apply. I’m not sure if they used the same technology that our school uses.
I wanted to know what alternatives I had if I wanted to take the examinations online. I know that the admissions officer can’t answer that question for me. So I needed to find another source. Well, I didn’t want to have to find a different person to help me because I already knew exactly how to go about things.
You’ve heard of Content Management System (CMS) before, right? It’s an application that can be used to build websites. A good CMS is going to cost a pretty penny, but it can also be a very powerful tool for students who want to take the examinations online.
The first thing I did was set up a secure login page that could be accessed by anyone at any time. Then I put in the code for every quiz. That way, I could set up a dummy test with a real response system and make sure that my code worked properly.
Next, I downloaded the Content Management System (CMS) onto my computer. My children know how to do this already, so it only took a couple of minutes. I didn’t want to mess around with special code or anything.
This way, when I took the actual test, I could just type in the code and submit it in my computer. It would be completely transparent.
Once I had everything set up, I went through the process of taking the exams online. It was really easy.
I found a topic I really wanted to know about and then did my exam at home. And then when I got home, I sent the test to the exam office so they could print it out and send it back to me.
Once I went through the process and found out what the exam was about, I’d want to work on the topics a little bit more, but for now, I was ready to go. Here’s how I found out what I needed to study for:
