Human beings are creatures of habit. So we’ve been conditioned to believe that taking exams is the way to go. And once a person knows how to take an exam, it’s almost certain he’ll study and prepare and do his best to learn the material on time and so on. Okay, but what if a person doesn’t know how to take an exam?
After all, every exam comes with different kinds of questions and also has different meanings. There may be some questions that are intended to test your knowledge of subjects that you aren’t too familiar with, or in which you simply don’t know the answers to. So the person who doesn’t know how to take an exam would have a very hard time passing his examination.
A person who didn’t know how to take an exam could try to just turn up for the examination on the first day and hope to do better than he did last time. You can try to look as best prepared as you can, but unless you have studied very well and learned about all the things on the exam that you might need to know, you’ll probably do badly. And yet, all too many people don’t know how to do this. And when it comes to taking your university examination, it is a bad way to go.
If you want to help yourself out, you can read the questions and quizzes and see what kind of answers you are likely to get. It’s often not much use in this situation, but the information is invaluable for the research you’ll need to do, or for the assessment of whether you know something.
Keep the questions short, maybe 15 questions or less, and so that you can get through them quickly. You will be able to find a number of these on the internet – it’s almost impossible to keep them all straight in your head. You can also find a number of very good reference guides for you to refer to – this is perhaps the most important thing you can do.
The quiz will usually be given out by one of the colleges you’re studying at. They might even take a look at your performance and decide to increase your next quiz level, or perhaps offer to do a specialised exam for you.
But most of the time, the college is going to ask you to sit down and take a few minutes out of your day to answer a few questions. They’ll do it in groups of four, so if you get an exam on the seventh of February, you should probably have five weeks to prepare. What are you waiting for?
They’ll ask you lots of special tests, which you’re going to need to study for. That’s the main reason they’re doing this – to make sure that you’ve got a good grasp of the subject matter.
In fact, when you see how many questions there are, you’ll see that it’s about time for you to start learning about the subject! Your tutor may be aware of this and have provided a report for you to read. This will usually be full of questions that you have to answer correctly.
Of course, there is one way in which you can make sure that you’ve got a good grasp of the subject matter – the knowledge base. Don’t forget that a good knowledge base will always come with a few quizzes and short tests thrown in. Thisway, you’ll be able to build up a good base on which you can build your knowledge.
As well as this, there will be quiz levels and other activities thrown in to keep you busy. Then you’ll be able to get to grips with the subject matter well in advance of the actual examination day.
