The censorship mentality is definitely not unique to colleges and universities. After all, the government is also having problems keeping up with the amount of censorship in their own institutions. Still, this is the current status of things when it comes to online censorship, not only in schools but at businesses and most notably in the Internet.
Despite the freedom that the Internet offers to us, it is still the opinion of many that the Internet can be used as an ordinary internet user with nothing more than a computer and a modem, would be unable to see what is going on in another country. This is the first example of the Internet’s censorship mentality.
Take my one on one at Yahoo.com. Not only can I see your censorship attitude, but it is even harder to escape it than it is to see it!
In case you were wondering, the same thing happens with Facebook. When you get to Facebook and view the page that shows up on the left-hand side of your home page, you will find there are more than a few sites that are censoring this page, which Facebook has decided to keep private and will not let anyone else see.
Or take my favorite example of the censorship mentality: YouTube. There are thousands of videos that have been censored from being allowed to be uploaded by the site. Who knows, perhaps it is a good thing they censored, since thousands of people have tried to upload a censored video on the site in the past, and many of these videos are still on YouTube.
The censorship mentality is currently sweeping the globe. It is the mentality of websites like Yahoo and YouTube that need to be changed if we want the internet to be open to all of us, rather than those who just want to come and shout “Ban Ki Moon”.
We should never forget that there is money involved in making sure that you can change and are able to access a censorship mentality. For instance, YouTube will not allow the public to see that site’s censoring attitude because there is money involved, and that money comes from advertisers who are able to continue to get away with misleading content on their site.
Take my one on one and become one of the people who change this, so that everyone can be free to access the free flow of information that the Internet provides to the rest of the world. This way, when your test paper or exam questions come back, you will know that you passed and you will be able to provide this information to others without fear of censorship.
What will you do when you take my college or university exam, because that too is likely to have censorship mentality that needs to be changed. Keep in mind that almost every school and college in the world now are working hard to create a censorship mentality and censoring exam papers, because that is the easiest way to keep control over the minds of students.
So when you pass this exam, and you take the censorship mentality test that your college or university is going to give you, remember that the test paper and exam questions may not necessarily be censored, but the people who are administering the exam, which is you, need to know that you understand the importance of the Internet and censorship. After all, you took the test to become educated and to expand your horizons, not to become “mature”civilized”.
You are the one that must be able to comprehend what the censoring mentality is, and therefore you are the one that must be able to avoid getting entangled in it. Be aware, and I hope you will not allow yourself to be swept away by the censorship mentality and test paper censorship that are currently widespread.
